Oultwood Hall Cherub CeilingThe ceiling in what was the drawing room of the old hall consists of two circles of plaster cherubs: three around the central rose and a further dozen in an outer circle twelve foot in diameter.
A section of the Oultwood Victorian Cherub Ceiling Although it is not known the exact date they were first erected, it is likely they were place on the ceiling during the 1890's when the front of the hall was rebuilt following a fire. They were repainted during the 1970's, the artist having to use a special tower to complete the work as the ceiling is thirteen foot above the floor. Although some of the cherubs appear to have been made from the same mounds, each has been painted in a slightly different and unique way.
